Tain's Story

Stage 4 Rectal Cancer Journey at Valley

Tain sharing her cancer journey at Valley

"While you’re fighting to live, you still have to live while you fight."

Five days after her 50th birthday, Tain learned she had stage 3 rectal cancer. What followed was a long and difficult journey through treatment, surgeries, recurrence, and complications—but also a team of caregivers who listened, advocated for her, and helped her find a path back to a life she wanted to live.

Tain shares her story in hopes that it will encourage others to pay attention to their symptoms and get recommended cancer screenings. Her experience is a powerful reminder that cancer care is about more than treating the disease; it’s about caring for the whole person along the way. Hear from Tain and members of her care team.

Colorectal cancers are the fourth most diagnosed cancer at Valley. Schedule your colonoscopy.
